It was the first retreat of my life, and I went without any expectations. In fact, I only went because my mother forced me. But, at the end, it turned out to be the retreat that changed my life.
Day by day, I felt all the burdens I was carrying fall away, and the Glory of God fill me.
But the enemy was not happy about it at all. In fact, on the very last day, after a call to the altar for those who wanted to receive the gift of tongues, I responded and went forward. Everyone began to speak in tongues—except for me. Many negative thoughts started flooding my mind—anger, frustration, and a deep sense of disappointment toward God.
I went to sleep, and during the night, I heard the voice of God say to me, “I have baptized you with new tongues.” I woke up, and on the way back to Rome after the retreat—while I was listening to Christian music, of course—my tongue started saying words I didn’t understand, like small sighs I couldn’t control. This continued all the way home.
That night, I couldn’t sleep because I couldn’t stop speaking in tongues—and it was beautiful.
I thank God for how He completely changed my life in just a 4-days retreat, and I deeply hope that more and more young people will take part in these retreats so they can experience what I experienced—and even more.
